Lagi and the Lorry
Hi all.
We were in Ireland on Saturday and I’ve gotta tell you all what happened ….
We got off the plane and picked up our bags. As we waited outside the airport, a guy pulls up in this VW 8 seater mini bus and waves us over. So, off we went got in and we set off for the hotel …he started telling us that it wasn’t his cab and he was doing a favour for the owner by picking us up as the owner was one of the organisers for the evening and he was busy setting up the do.
The drive took about 50 mins so we sat back and I looked at Lagi and he was falling asleep so I let him lean on my shoulder and relax. As we got to the hotel we pulled up I opened the door and left Lagi to wake up.
I had a stretch and saw the driver get out and head towards the back of the van to get our case …as he handed me my case we stood the other side of the van to where Lagi was going to get out and I said to the driver “this is a nice hotel” …then he started to tell me how old it was and what the facilities were and how nice the staff are.
Then I hear Lagi say “daaaaad” ….so I said “hold on a minute Lags” …….”daaaadd” …”just a second Lags” I said.
The bloke finished telling me about the hotel and we both walked round to where Lagi was and saw him standing with two hands on the side of the van leaning against it with his head down …”Lagi” …I said ”what’s the matter?”….He looked like he was recovering from a heavy night on the booze and about to fall over so he was holding himself up by leaning right over and holding onto the mini bus ………the brake …the brake ……now I know I’m not quick on a good day but me and the driver just looked at each other and couldn’t figure out why Lagi was saying brake …brake ….then… it clicked …the driver ran around to his side and opened his door and put the handbrake on …
Ohhhhh myyyyyy god while we were talking Lagi was stopping the mini bus from rolling back. Now i want to assure you we are both fine and Lagi has not stopped telling me how his super human strength was the only thing that saved us from a disaster.
I have to agree with him and I have had to listen in detail to this story for two days now with the time he had to hold on to the mini bus getting longer and longer … but it’s worth it.
He has promised not to tell Karen that I was too busy asking about the local history of a hotel to help him.
As he now says …….STOP A LORRY FROM RUNNING AWAY …………..kids …you gotta love em!
